For the two readings, I found it important to combine technologies and climate education together. One idea is to teach them how to correctly use technological tools, another idea is to let them know that technology is bringing new problems although it is helpful to our daily life, and what really matters is how to critically take its advantages and reduce its negative effects, not only to our usage, but also to the clamite.
Just like the conversation I had with our classmates, I did not know that AI tools can make serious pollutions based on the generation length and frequency. I am sure that most of the students are not aware of the problem as well. So, it's important to tell them the potential drawbacks brought by the technology and how it might be hurtful to the world.
When conducting the instruction for climate education, we have several ways to implement it. The first one would be connecting the technology and the climate education together. Based on the research, VR, AI model and even social medias could be good means to be applied in the climate education. Secondly, the role of emotion and experience in climate learning can not be ignored. Compared with the traditional data and facts-oriented teaching method, immersion technology is more effective, largely because it can stimulate learners' emotional reactions, such as anxiety, empathy and sense of responsibility. This kind of emotional participation helps to enhance the depth and persistence of learning.
But I do not want our attention fully attracted by "how to implement the climate education" and "how to increase students' awareness of the climate changes". The reason for implementing the climate education is to help them shape a positive understanding of the environment protection, but there is the issue that some of the teachers depend on the emotional reaction of the students too much, which means they are increasing the learners' anxiety, which will put them in the great psychological pressure, and that is not the correct way to implement the instruction.
Therefore, we should seek a balance between the students' psychological health and the climate education.
