Personal Reflection 2026.03.07

After reading articles related to AI previously, the articles this week interest me a lot. I think that it is important to keep a balance between the usage of AI and its ethical issues. After reading those articles, I have found several methods to use AI correctly.

When talking about how people are using AI nowadays, it's quite critical. As I know, most of my college classmates used AI simply as a digital tool for them to finish their work as soon as possible instead of using it to gather information and comprehensively combine useful materials to enhance their learning progress and outcome. They used AI to complete tasks for the classes, even for the tests. This directly lead to the bad consequence that the teacher couldn't track their proficiency for the class, as well as the academic honesty. This will only cause more arduous and complicated work to the teachers. 

Trust and honesty should be a crucial factor for people to use AI correctly. If a teacher pays special attention to check if the work is conducted by AI, the efficiency for checking the real content and the students' proficiency will decrease significantly. This is not the outcome that we want. Personally speaking, regarding AI ethics, it is crucial to teach students the basic structure of AI and how to use it correctly. The emphasize of AI's ethical use is important as well. The concept is quite similar to the teach of digital ability. The main purpose is to help the students shape a better ethical understanding.

Also, AI could provide fake information based on its database. Instead of analyzing the given information, it will generate fake excursive or not-existing information. The contents might be substantial and seems real. In the field of education, AI's false information may lead students to use the wrong materials to study, which further leads to the decline of academic research quality. If students rely entirely on AI without verification, their learning effect and academic integrity will be affected. That's why students should also shape a critical mind to analyze the given information to filter the information that's really important and helpful.

In conclusion, cultivating the ability to correctly use AI tools and focusing on building and maintaining trust in AI is very important for giving full play to the potential of these technologies and benefiting society.

Yu Borui Annotated Bibliography 2026.02.05 For this week's reading, I mainly focused on New perspectives of L2 acquisition related to human-computer interaction (HCI) written by Meunier.  According to Song et al., while voice-activated AI assistants are highly effective at processing spoken commands from native speakers, they are far less effective when the commands are given by second-language speakers. The accuracy for a second language learner is approximately 55 percent whereas the one for a native speaker rise to around 98 percent. Despite functional fluency in a second language, subtle but significant pronunciation difficulties may persist, impacting human-computer cognition. However, this also proves that speech AI can also serve as a teaching tool for learning and improving second language pronunciation. Annotated Bibliography 2026.02.14 Yu Borui For this week's reading, I mainly focused on Chen et al.'s article, t his article introduced the application of AI technologies in second language learning.  The author emphasizes the importance of balancing AI with traditional teaching methods and using these tools responsibly in language education. Lai, C., & Gu, M. (2011). Self-regulated out-of-class language learning with technology. Computer Assisted Language Learning, 24(4), 317–335. Lai and Gu mentioned the importance of t eachers actively encourage and guide students to use technology outside the classroom to enhance their language learning.
