For this week, I read Salmanov's article. The ideas are creative and innovative.

Azar, A. S., & Tan, N. H. I. (2020). The application of ICT techs (mobile-assisted language learning, gamification, and virtual reality) in teaching English for secondary school students in Malaysia during COVID-19 pandemic, Universal Journal of Educational Research, 8(11C), 55–63.

The article mentioned that integrating AI and gamification into language education is a highlt innovative method compared to the traditional one.  AI platform and applications are introducing points, rewards and competitions into the learner's linguistic learning process so that they can practice language when they are not under the guidance from AI. With the continuous development of related technologies, the gamified learning method is gradually becoming one of the most important methods for improving foreign language learning efficiency.

Ahmed Fadhil & Adolfo Villafiorita (2017). An Adaptive Learning with Gamification & Conversational UIs: The Rise of CiboPoliBot. Adjunct Publication of the 25th Conference on User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization.

This article focuses on the point of how AI-based gamification of studying promotes positive participation by providing rewards like medals and progress tracking. It changed the language study in some extent. Those mechanism could provide a sense of achievement, to promote the learners participate in studying more frequently and more enduringly. And this kind of personalized is especially good for the learners who study alone, just to fix up the blank of outside motivation.

New trends in second language learning and teaching through the lens of ICT, networked learning, and artificial intelligence. In C. Fernández Juncal & N. Hernández Muñoz (Eds.), Vías de transformación en la enseñanza de lenguas con mediación tecnológica, Círculo de Lingüística Aplicada a la Comunicación, 76, 13–30.

But when mentioning the possible shortcomings of this pattern, it might lack the handling of spontaneous conversations. Different from AI bots, human communications are closely related to emotional reactions and extemporaneous speeches. So, it is not appropriate to only use AI tools for language learning, we must develop our understanding of the second language while taking part in communication activities in real contexts.
