Annotated Bibliography 2026.01.30

Annotated Bibliography Yu Borui   2026.01.30 When reading the article written by Reinhardt, I found it interesting to connect social media with linguistic study. This bibliography will mainly focus on the functions and impacts of social media.  Zhu, Y., & Chen, H. (2015) . Social media and human need satisfaction: Implications for social media marketing . Business Horizons, 58(3), 335–345. According to Zhu and Chen, social medias could be classified into two dimensions. The first one is profile-based platform, which emphasizes the user's personal identification and information. The second one is content-based platform, which regard content as its core, the users could establish network according to the topics that they are all interested in. When combining these two demensions, four main types of social medias could be formed. Those are relationship, self-media, collaboration, and creative outlets.  Dudeney, G., & Hockly, N. (2012) .  Social media i...

Annotated Bibliography 2026.01.29

Annotated Bibliography Yu Borui 2026.01.29 For this week's reading, I found one of the articles particularly interesting, which is rich of data and fieldwork, it not only helps us understand how Google users actually use Google apps, but also allows researchers to obtain outcomes based on the data. In this annotated bibliography, I will mainly focus on the investigations and then give my reflection. Firstly, it is showed in the data that among the participants, only approximately 16.5% had used Google Drive with relatively high frecuency. As for the remaining participants, the majority had little or no prior experience with Google Drive. It is also interesting to mention that during the investigation, the participants's data showed that they tend to access Google Platform by using their personal desktop, which might suggest their preference for convenience and privacy. The following reseasrch showed home is most of the preference for them to access Google Platform. This could s...

Annotated Bibliography 2026.01.24

Yu Borui     2026.01.24 Annotated Bibliography  This week, we have learned several learning modes, and I personally regard Hybrid learning mode as the most interesting one, that is why I mainly focus on Dommett and Detyna's article for this week's anootated bibliography. In this paper, I will write about Hybrid learning mode, the possible issues in it and he solutions. Detyna, M., Sanchez-Pizani, R., Giampietro, V., Dommett, E. J., & Dyer, K. (2022). Hybrid flexible (HyFlex) teaching and learning: Climbing the mountain of implementation challenges for synchronous online and face-to-face seminars during a pandemic. Learning Environments Research, 26(1), 145–159.  Detyna, Sanchez and Dommett introduced a university's case study of using Hyflex teaching mode. This mode allows both online and offline students to participate in synchronous seminar-style courses at the same time, this is a new teaching strategy to deal with the limitations caused by the pandemic...

Borui's Critique of Moodle

Yu Borui’s Critique of Moodle Moodle, as one of the most popular LMSs, has both good points and shortcomings. In this critique, I will address both aspects based on my experience of being a regular user of Moodle during my college years. In terms of advantages, its most notable feature is that it covers all the pedagogical functions required for academic programs. Teachers are able to post notifications on the program pages, to assign homework for the class and to conduct quizzes for the students. These are only some of Moodle’s many functions. Among all these functions, I personally regard the “Deadline Reminder” on the main page of the most useful one for me. For instance, if there are many classes in one semester, the homework assigned by the teachers can be listed in the right side of the home page and arranged in order of deadlines. I was able to schedule my academic plans by checking the deadline reminder and I avoided many timing errors. The function really made my acqu...

Annotated Bibliography 2026.01.15

Yu Borui         2026.01.15 Annotated Bibliography In this assignment, I mainly focus on the technological learning methods and the digital literacy of digital natives. Prensky, M. (2001). Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants . On the Horizon , 9(5) October 2001 Prensky wrote about and popularised the idea of a generation of "Digital Natives". He argued that the digital natives/the net generation/millennials are seasoned users of technology who are innately or inherently tech savvy, and that they behave and think differently because of their use of technology. Technology can shape one's way of thinking, and that directly leads to changes of one's learning styles. Warschauer, M. (1996). Motivational aspects of using computers for writing and communication. In M. Warschauer (Ed.), Telecollaboration in Foreign Language Learning (pp. 29–46) . University of Hawai‘i Second Language Teaching & Curriculum Center. Warschauer's findings are significant. Based on his r...
